Ingredients

  • 2 hot cross buns
  • Knob of butter
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fruit compote or jam
  • Peanut butter
  • Greek yoghurt

LET’S DIVE IN

  1. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, and a pinch of salt.

  3. Slice the hot cross buns in half, then dunk each slice into the egg mixture, pressing down to fully soak both sides.

  4. Add a knob of butter to the hot pan and let it melt.

  5. Place the soaked hot cross bun slices in the pan and cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Plate up and load with your favourite toppings—whether it’s fruit compote and Greek yoghurt for a fresh and tangy kick or peanut butter and jam for a sweet and nutty twist.
